Too Many Have Been Raped and Molested

I wrote a post on one of my favorite sites called CafeMom entitled, “Have You Been Molested?” These were the results of the pole and my response to all the women who commented.

The numbers are staggering. This is tragic. This is horrific. I am lost in this number. I just don’t understand how this can be. Almost 400 raped or molested. That is 7 out of 10.

7 out of 10

7 out of 10

7 out of 10

7 out of 10

I am lost in this number.

After reading every single comment, I was overwhelmed. I was overwhelmed by your stories. What in the world? 7 out of 10. I am lost in this number.

I was overwhelmed, then I got MAD.

I was MAD at the men that did this to us. I was MAD at the mothers that turned a blind eye. I was MAD at the system for failing us. I was MAD.

Then I was INSPIRED.

I was INSPIRED by all of you beautiful women. I was INSPIRED to read your stories of survival. I was INSPIRED by your strength. I was INSPIRED by your courage to tell your stories. I was INSPIRED by all of you.

Because you should all be PROUD of yourself. You should be PROUD that you survived. You should be PROUD that you could tell your story. Because I am PROUD of you. I AM IN AWE OF ALL OF YOU.

Now what? Now what do we do? We can’t live in the past. We can’t have our future be determined by our past. Let’s read that again…

We can’t have our future be determined by our past.

We need to move on. We need to understand that they did that to us. Think about our own children. If your daughter told you that they experienced what you did, would you blame them? Would you tell them that it was their fault? Or would you hold them, and nurture them and tell them it wasn’t. You would look at them right in their innocent eyes and say, “It wasn’t your fault. You are still beautiful. You are MAGNIFICENT!”

Isn’t that right? Isn’t that what you would do. Well do it. Do it to yourself. Look in the mirror and say, “It wasn’t your fault. You are still beautiful. You are MAGNIFICENT!” and then add, “I can’t have my future be determined by my past.”

These bastards that raped, molested, violated, and tortured each and everyone of us cannot have the satisfaction of raping, molesting, violating, and torturing us still to this day.

THEY SHOULD NOT, CANNOT, WILL NOT HAVE THAT POWER OVER US ANY LONGER!

So, let us love ourselves to the fullest. Let this be just a chapter in our life. A horrible scary chapter, but just a chapter. Let us move on and see what the rest of our book is about. Because I am a sucker for happy endings.

Much love and with deepest respect,

rocky signature
