Today is “Someday”

SunriseIt’s a Leap Year, a year with 366 days, and today is our extra day.

The 29th of February is a day that exists to solve a problem – a wonky calendar that if left alone would eventually get totally out of whack. Having this day fixes a flaw.

I find this amazing: The whole reason this day exists is to make things better.

We have been handed a rare and precious day just made for righting wrongs. What are you going to do with it?

If there’s something you’ve put off until “someday”, here is your Someday.

If there’s something you need to change in your life, this is your starting point. You deserve it. Go.

This is the day to tell your loved ones that you’re happy they’re here. Look them straight in the eyes and smile, make sure they really hear you.

Take some bags of food to the shelter, just because someone is hungry and you can fix that. Throw in a good dessert, or a toy for a child who might not have had a little luxury for a while. Small things matter like crazy.

If you need to apologize to someone, do it now. Say you’re sorry, that you know you were wrong and ask how you can make it better. REALLY apologize.

Wake up and be aware – THIS IS A SPECIAL DAY.

Today is a gift, a chance not to put off the good you could do until tomorrow. As a friend of mine says, “Go Carpe you some Diem.”

Hey Sarah…I’m reading this sometime after February 29th. Yet, the message resonates as clearly as when you first wrote it. This day…is a Special day to right a wrong, to say I love you, to give of myself and to do something special. That’s what’s beautiful about today. Have a good one!
